WIGATI – Wine, Gastronomy, Tourism & Innovation
The rapid expansion of global tourism has intensified competition among destinations, highlighting the pivotal role of intangible cultural heritage in attracting tourists at local and regional levels. In this vibrant landscape, the fusion of Wine, Gastronomy, Tourism, and Innovation holds immense promise to synergistically elevate, diversify, and bolster local and regional economies through technological advancements within the primary sector.
Gastronomic Tourism, as articulated by the World Tourism Organization, epitomizes a traveler’s immersive journey interwoven with culinary experiences and associated products and activities. Wine Tourism, a distinctive facet of Gastronomic Tourism, encompasses visits to wineries, vineyards, industry events, and indulgence in wine tasting, consumption, and procurement, often within the producers’ own premises or the wine’s region of origin.
The forthcoming WIGATI’25 conference session is dedicated to showcasing scholarly endeavors that delve into the intersection of Tourism and Technology, with a keen focus on harnessing the rich potential of Gastronomy, alongside Wine, in cultural and intangible heritage contexts.
